The children of Science Hill, Kentucky are our most important resource. Therefore, the awesome citizens of this community have put their money and energy into this school. This school is, in fact, the focal point of this community. The children that have graduated from this school and gone on to be happy and successful in their further education and careers are a great source of pride for all of us. We take direct responsibility for each individual child that walks in these doors. Believe it or not, families move to our town so their children can go to our school! Now that is a powerful recommendation for what is going on inside these schoolhouse walls.
You will find that we are a community of learners who share ownership in this experience we are sharing. Yes, our test scores are consistently in the top 10 % in the entire state. Yes, our school and grounds are well kept, beautiful, clean and shiny. Yes, our school lunches are delicious and plentiful. Yes, our students and staff have a very high attendance rate, which is a sign that they actually want to be here. Most importantly though, in my opinion, is the fact that people can feel that they are working together to make a difference in children’s lives. Each of us is here to serve Science Hill’s most valuable asset, our children.
